Hosted by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa Dr. Carlos Lopes, this high-level event seeks to raise awareness on the importance of capacity and demonstrate the role of capacity to support the AU Agenda 2063.
The event takes place alongside the 8th Joint Annual Meetings of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Finance, Monetary Affairs, Economic Planning and Integration and the ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Format of the Panel Discussion
The event will start with a presentation by ACBF of an overview of the study on the Capacity Imperatives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, focusing on the need to look seriously at the capacity dimensions of the Agenda, the objectives of the study, the approach and the progress to date. This presentation will provide the necessary background information that will help the High Level Panel Members to give their perspectives of the capacity challenges ahead for the implementation of the Agenda and how to address them.
Expected outcomes
It is expected that the comments and inputs made by the participants will assist in further refining the Agenda 2063 Capacity needs assessment study being undertaken by ACBF and will inform the stakeholders involved in the design and implementation of the continental agenda.
