The Centre for Financial Journalism invited Prof Emmanuel Nnadozie was invited as Guest Lecturer to the annual Bullion Lecture. The lecture is programmed as a platform for lively discourse on national and international issues.
The topic for the lecture is: Funding Tertiary Education in Nigeria: Challenges and Opportunities. The choice of this topic is informed by the crisis in tertiary education in Nigeria. This crisis manifests in frequent industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and its counterparts in the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education and other institutions of higher learning in the country. To a large extent, the crisis can be attributed to poor funding of public tertiary institutions in the country. Prof. Nnadozie as a development expert, is expected to point the way forward with regard to funding tertiary education in Nigeria.
The Bullion Lecture has always been delivered by first-rate intellectuals and global citizens at the cutting edge of their profession. Government officials, captains of industry, banking and finance industry executives, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of multilateral institutions, media executives, journalists, and members of the public, are expected to attend.
