Chair of the Executive Board

Erastus, a renowned economist and administrator, served as the Deputy Chairperson of the Af-rican Union Commission (AUC), overseeing administration and finance and developing strate-gic plans. During his term, he facilitated institutional cooperation with the World Bank. He im-plemented the Joint Support Office for the Secretariat of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), African Development Bank (AfDB), and AUC. Before that, he served as Secretary General of COMESA, where he led the establishment of the COMESA Free Trade Area and represented the region in international trade negotiations with the EU and AGOA.

Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee

Mamour, an established economist and banker, has served as Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia, Permanent Secretary of several ministries, and Executive Director of the Islamic Development Bank in Saudi Arabia. He founded the Arab Gambian Islamic Bank and served as its first Managing Director, established The Gambia Bankers Association, set up the Institute of Bankers of The Gambia, and was Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Gambia Reve-nue Authority. Mamour is passionate about helping African financial institutions achieve finan-cial discipline and enhance their revenue performance. 

Chair of the Finance and HR Committee

Pauline, an experienced human resources and capacity-building specialist, conducts several training projects across Southern Africa. She has worked as Executive Director of the Botswa-na Diamond Manufacturing Association, Technical Adviser/Change Manager to the Turks and Caicos Islands Permanent Secretary, and Human Resources Expert at the Commonwealth Sec-retariat. Pauline has worked with prominent organizations such as USAID, the World Bank, the European Union, and AUDA-NEPAD. She is enthusiastic about providing technical sup-port, forming strategic partnerships, and advocating for women's empowerment.

Chair of the Operations Committee

Kevin represents the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) on the Executive Board. He is the Chief Economist and Vice President of Economic Governance and Knowledge Manage-ment at AfDBHe has introduced innovative flagship knowledge products for AfDB and led the establishment of the Public Finance Management Academy for Africa (PFMA) and several 

Rania, a prominent economist and gender equality expert, has held notable positions such as Alternate Minister of Labor in Greece, Member of Parliament, and Ambassador to the Organi-sation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She currently serves as a Senior Scholar at the Levy Economics Institute and is the Director of the Gender Equality and Econo-my Program. She has led research teams and introduced innovative measures like the Levy In-stitute Measure of Time and Income Poverty (LIMTIP), which sheds light on the impact of time poverty on households. She is passionate about alleviating world poverty.

Botho represents the African Union Commission on the Executive Board as an institutional member. She is currently serving as the Director of Strategic Planning and Delivery at the Afri-can Union. She has worked with notable organizations in Botswana, including the Botswana National Olympic Committee, Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, and the Botswana Hou-sing Corporation. She is passionate about building the capacity of African organizations to achieve their fullest potential and contribute to Africa’s sustainable economic transformation.

Executive Secretary

Mamadou, an agricultural economist and development expert, joined the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) from VISA, where he served as Vice President and Global Head of Inclusive Growth and, before that, as Regional Head of Social Impact for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region. Prior to joining the Rockefeller Foundation, Mamadou served as Oxfam’s Regional Director for West Africa. He currently serves as the Executive Secretary at ACBF and is dedicated to enhancing human and institutional capacities for sustainable development in Africa.

Beavogui is a former interim Prime Minister and Head of Government in the Republic of Guin-ea. He is an international development expert on development finance, partnership building, and resource mobilization. He worked as Senior Project Management Officer at United Nations Of-fice for Project Services (UNOPS), served as Regional Director for West and Central Africa for the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), as well as Director of Partnership and Resource Mobilization and Senior Advisor to the President of IFAD, and Director-General of the African Risk Capacity (ARC), where he implemented projects across Africa. 

Mimi Kalinda brings over 27 years of experience in communications and Public Relations. With a successful track record of proven strategies across Africa, Europe, and the United States and as co-founder of Africa Communications Media Group (ACG), she has led campaigns for major clients such as the African Development Bank, Ethiopian Airlines, the Mastercard Foundation, and the African Union.

Her ability to develop strategies to not only communicate effectively but also make a long lasting and tangible impact and drive real action, Mimi's work has supported policy advocacy, crisis management, and capacity building across Africa. Most notably, she played a key role in raising $51 million for the African Union’s campaign against Ebola and has contributed to high-level branding initiatives for countries like Ethiopia and Morocco.

Mimi holds a degree from New York University and is an official LinkedIn Influencer. She is passionate about leadership development through the power of storytelling.

Eddie is a Senior Fellow at Schmidt Futures. He was most recently Director for Africa and the Middle East at Yale where he led the University President’s Africa Initiative, and advanced Yale’s bi-directional partnerships across Africa and the Middle East.  Prior to joining Yale, he was the Associate Director of NYU Africa House, and the NYU Abu Dhabi Center for Tech-nology & Economic Development. He is a Carnegie New Leader and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs.

Constant is an experienced public health professional with resource mobilization and strategy coordination expertise. He serves as the SENAREC Coordinator and World Bank Consultant under the Public Administration Strengthening and Rejuvenation (PRRAP) Project, the IDA Governance Project at the World Bank in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Constant holds the position of Senior Coordinator at the African Foundation for Education and Devel-opment (FAED). He is passionate about improving Africa’s public health systems.

Matthias represents the United Nations for Development Programme (UNDP) on the Executive Board as an institutional member. He is the Director of the Regional Service Centre for Africa, UNDP. He has held senior leadership roles within the United Nations, including UN Resident Coordinator in Comoros and UNDP Country Director in Mozambique. Before his UN tenure, he was Resident Country Director in Liberia and Nigeria for the International Republican Insti-tute, managing governance programs with USAID. He is passionate about driving transforma-tional change on the African continent.

Gerard is an international development expert and philanthropist. He served as Chief Executive at the European Foundation Centre. He has worked for has worked for the Ford Foundation, The Bernard van Leer Foundation, Save the Children Federation, Redd Barna (Norwegian Save the Children), and OXFAM UK.  Gerry is a renowned thought leader, writer, and lecturer, providing consultation and teaching services at the African Centre for Philanthropy and Social Investment.

Makeda is an economic development expert who spearheads business growth and innovation across Africa. She has forged partnerships, overseen multi-million-dollar projects, developed pioneering agricultural solutions, provided counsel on private-sector strategies, and collaborated with high-level government officials, donors, and impact investors. Makeda is passionate about helping African businesses reach their fullest potential.

Independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee

Mukesh is a strategically oriented oversight consultant with extensive experience in govern-ance, risk management, auditing, evaluation, investigation, ethics management, anticorruption, accountability, internal controls and capacity building. He has experience working in oversight bodies of the national governments, United Nations and private sector. Mukesh is an independ-ent member of the WHO advisory committee (IEAOC), Director and treasurer of the Associa-tion of Certified Fraud Examiners (India chapter) and co-founder of the NGO named “E-information, Systems, Security and Audit Association”. Currently, he is the Managing Director and CEO of Red Flag Oversight Consultancy Services.

Mahoula, an experienced audit and internal control professional, has worked for international organizations and financial institutions, such as MKO Global in Cote d’Ivoire and XSML CAPITAL in DRC. She leads and supervises audits, develops risk-based plans, and provides expertise in economic analysis, team leadership, and project management. Kone has collaborat-ed with well-known organizations such as the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) and the African Development Bank. She is passionate about advanc-ing good governance, transparency, and accountability.

Independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee

Papa, an expert in internal audit, risk management, and business operations. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Control Consulting and Associates. He has worked as Chief Re-gional Audit Centre for East and Southern Africa at the United Nations Development Pro-gramme (UNDP). Tandia is committed to promoting good governance, transparency, and ac-countability.

Thomas Kwesi Quartey

ACBF has been granted the status of a specialized agency because of the potential to transform Africa through capacity development.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.
