Support to Civil Society

With the expansion of the ACBF mandate in 1999, the Foundation has been supporting civil society and private sector umbrella organizations. ACBF has been building capacity of non-state actors for advocacy, women empowerment, governance, leadership and conflict resolutions both a t national as well as at regional levels. At national level, ACBF supports are delivered through interface projects to build the capacity of non-state actors to participate in national policy dialogues for the attainment of the countries’ development goals. The Foundation, in its support to non-state actors, made the strategic decision to target not only umbrella organisations but mostly umbrella women organisations in order to set gender issues at the centre of capacity development and foster the necessary tripartite dialogue between the public sector, the private sector and the Non-governmental organisations that facilitate concerted developmental efforts and lead to increase accountability.

Erastus Mwencha
